No No...this is not about the Jackie Chan's flick. Its just a small story about two people who always wanted to be together but....
"Hello, Aditya....How have you been? " a trembling voice of Rishika was a clear indication of her confused and intimidated feelings. The feelings that she always had in herself but never let it being manifested to the outer world or more appropriately to her inner soul too. Her perplexed look took her 8 years back when she first met Aditya that too in a crowded Mumbai evening.
Hi, Are you Rishika?
Ahh... So you are Aditya. Finally I am able to see you. Well, you kept me waiting for long and I was about to leave. It looks weird as I am on my first blind date and that too you turned quite early". A sarcastic grin floated on her lips.
Well, I am so sorry but you know these Mumbai traffic n all...
Those were words being exchanged eight years back somewhere in Mumbai where two souls or say broken souls interacted for the first time in quest of true love, however none of them ever realized what actually a true love meant. Aditya was a dumb guy always presenting himself as a hardcore Leo who IS always right. He had just one dream, to be the BEST and always stand out of the crowd. Rishika on the other was a very down to earth girl often felt broken because of her overly caring nature and kindness. She had encapsulated herself with a world of her own where everything was perfect. Where there was no sorrow, no grief , no lies. Neither of them agreed b ut their meeting together for the first time was eventually an attempt to forget the bitter memories of their past and to look for something more meaningful then.
Well, there is something strange about Love. That is the feeling that "this can be the one". It mars more that what it has to mend. The same happened to them and with this staunch feeling the two proclaimed themselves as a couple.
Aditya was shocked, yes shocked! Or say aghast rather than being mere surprised! He has never ever imagined in his life that someday he will happen to see the individual which made him what he is today. She was looking amazingly beautiful in her chiffon saree with an added weight which Aditya always admired. He couldn't even utter a word with eyes wide open quite an irony when he was trying to steal his eyes out of the sight which brought a tremor in his inner soul.
The silence prevailed with some randomness of thoughts. Aditya was trying to recall the best moments he ever had with Rishika. To all his surprise he wasn't able to pick one. It was the words which recalled him and slowly and slowly they jostled him into the past.
Beta, why don't you trust me? I swear it was nothing intentional and I don't mean it. It just happened some how and believe me whoever knows me knows that you are the one.
You think you are trying to ameliorate things but eventually you worsen them and as mentioned previously on this "the one" thing, it mars more than it mends. Words came out as a water through a broken dam. Aditya could do nothing more than listening to what troubled and hurt heart of Rishika was pumping out. She knew that Aditya can never cheat on him but still she had to show or justify precisely her importance in his life. Aditya couldn't take it more. Afterall, who can defy a LEO in his own terrain that too for a no fault of his own. No fault, atleast he thinks that. Rishika became cool after sometime and was expecting some soothing and apology filled words from Aditya but the poor Leonine heart didn't revert back. Both of them expected the other to take the initiative for a patch up. Eventually, the "the one" thing became "none" thing.
Days past by, Rishika found different ways to live her life. She tried too many things to keep her calm and eventually got married to a well established guy. However, the prowess she exhibited with Aditya could never be revived. She had to compromise many times with her own belief, broke the shell of her wonder world and in return got a sense of security and warmth which is always coveted as a wife. Aditya on the other hand suffered more. He was left with no one but his loneliness who was the only defiant to his leonine soul. Aditya had no choice other than abiding by the defiance that he had always hated in his life. He could bear no more and left for US for his Phd. Years passed by and now he is amongst the best academia in whole US. Recently, he is in India for presenting his paper on "financial strategy in Indian stock market" acclaimed worldwide. He still has clashes with his loneliness but the defiance of his loneliness is reciprocated by the achievements he has made.
"I got to see you in newspaper but it seems you don't remember me or you just don't want to say something. I had asked a simple question about your things. Well, as you wish."
The ever so beautiful Rishika felt the same prowess she used to have on him years back that was surrendered by her to her husband. She looked amused to use a bit of that and turned back. Aditya was still there, all mum no words. He was speechless. He was speechless on her beauty her softness her delicacy or perhaps the quick recall of past. It has been ages when his leonine heart has ever ruled on someone. By keeping mum he felt again as if no one could ever defy him. He looked calm as he always had ruled Rishika and now he had a chance to win on someone which he could not do for long with his loneliness. He looked in his hand that was holding the same paper he was about to present in India, chuckled a bit and felt amused as if he was the winner all again.
"Aditya where have you been?" Same voice but slightly different words. Aditya's eyes followed the admired voice. A small kid was running away from Rishika. She grabbed him and kissed him. He got into her lap and said with a soft tone, " Mumma..."
Aditya stood stunned with tears in his eyes. He looked again to the same paper and the kid in her lap. He knew he could never make a comparison. He knew what he had lost. Slowly and slowly, the Myth was broken.......
